The Huntington Digital Library is a digital sampling from the vast collections of The Huntington Library, one of the largest and most complete research libraries in the United States. The Library's collection of rare books, manuscripts, prints, photographs, maps, and other materials in the fields of British and American history and literature totals more than six million items. This site is currently under construction; we hope to have the collections available for searching by Summer 2011. See The Huntington Library, Art Collections, and Botanical Gardens website for more details about the institution.
Certain digital collections have been made available by the Henry E. Huntington Library for research, teaching, and private study. Individual items in these digital online collections may be protected by the U.S. Copyright Law (Title 17, U.S.C.). Use of an item may be subject to additional restrictions imposed by the Creator/Maker and/or Copyright Holder.
The nature of certain collections often makes it difficult to determine the copyright status of an item. Whenever possible, the Henry E. Huntington Library will provide information to aid users in determining copyright status; ultimately, however, it is the user's responsibility to utilize an item according to the terms governing its use. We are eager to hear from Creators/Makers and/or Copyright Holders who are not properly identified so that appropriate information may be provided in the future.
