Biographical Note
Evelyn L. V. Howell was a weather station observer at Mission San Juan Capistrano.
Scope and Content Note
The collection is arranged chronologically and consists primarily of legal documents pertaining to real estate transactions in and around San Jan Capistrano, Los Angeles, and San Diego in the late nineteenth century. The collection also includes records of land grants made by the U.S. government to individuals in the southern California area. Documents include grants, land patents, deeds, indentures, mortgages, leases, and a few court documents.
